Sandblasting & Media Blasting
Coatings only last as long as the surface underneath them. Blasting removes corrosion, old coatings and contamination so what goes on next actually stays on.

Overview
Sandblasting & Media Blasting
Media blasting is the difference between a coating that lasts a decade and one that lifts in a season. On heavy equipment operating through Alberta winters and salted highways, it is not a luxury step — it is the step that determines whether the rest of the work was worth paying for.
We select media to suit the substrate and the outcome, from aggressive stripping of a corroded frame through to gentler work on lighter or more delicate surfaces.
What this service covers
- Truck and trailer frame and chassis blasting
- Trailer skin, deck and structure preparation
- Tank, vessel and equipment blasting
- Corrosion and scale removal
- Old coating, paint and undercoating removal
- Heavy equipment and attachment preparation
- Media selected to substrate and finish requirement
- Immediate priming to prevent flash corrosion
Why blasting matters more here than most places
Southern Alberta combines road salt, magnesium chloride brine, temperature swings that cycle through freezing repeatedly in a single week, and gravel. That combination attacks coatings at the edges and works underneath them.
Once corrosion is established beneath a coating, painting over it simply hides it while it continues. Blasting removes it back to sound substrate so the new system bonds to metal rather than to rust.
Blast, then prime — without a gap
A freshly blasted surface begins to flash rust quickly, and in humid or cold conditions it can happen in a matter of hours. A unit that is blasted one day and primed several days later has already lost part of the benefit.
We sequence blasting and priming so the prepared surface is coated before it can degrade, which is one of the practical reasons to have both done in the same facility.
Year-round capability
Alberta weather does not leave a long outdoor blasting season, and equipment does not stop needing preparation in January. Our capability runs year round, so the work can be scheduled when your operation has a gap rather than when the weather allows it.

Heavy Truck & Fleet FAQ
Questions about sandblasting & media blasting
If yours is not here, call the shop — somebody who works on the vehicles will answer it.
What can you blast?
Truck and trailer frames, chassis, decks and skins, tanks and vessels, heavy equipment and attachments, and most structural steel. If you are unsure whether a substrate will take it, ask us before booking.
Will blasting damage the metal?
Not when the media and pressure are matched to the substrate. That matching is the skill — the same setup that is right for a corroded frame rail will distort a light-gauge panel.
Can you blast and coat in one visit?
That is how we prefer to do it. Blasting and coating in sequence in the same facility avoids flash rust between stages and gives you a better result for the same money.
