How Much Does Heavy Truck Collision Repair Cost?
On a commercial unit the repair invoice is rarely the largest cost. The days off the road usually are.
Typical range
- Cosmetic and minor body
- $1,500 – $5,000
- Hood or fairing replacement
- $3,000 – $9,000
- Cab structural repair
- $10,000 – $40,000
- Rollover reconstruction
- $30,000 – $100,000+
Overview
Heavy truck collision work is priced differently from passenger repair because the components are larger, the parts lead times are longer and the calculation a fleet is actually making includes revenue that is not being earned while the unit sits.
That is why the first thing we quote is not just the money but the return-to-service date, and why long-lead parts get identified on day one rather than discovered in week two.
Figures on this page are general Calgary-market ranges intended to give you a sense of scale. They are not a quotation and not our price list — every job is priced on the vehicle in front of us. Get a free written estimate for a real number.

What actually moves the number
What the impact reached
Panels and fairings are one job. Cab structure, frame rails, fifth wheel mounting and the air and electrical runs along the rails are another entirely.
Parts availability
A composite hood on back-order can add weeks regardless of labour. This is the single most common reason a heavy repair timeline moves, which is why we flag it immediately.
Repair versus replace
Composite hoods and fairings can often be structurally repaired at a fraction of replacement cost, with a far shorter lead time. Where the mounting structure is compromised, replacement is the right call.
Frame work
Straightening is measurement work and manufacturers publish limits on heating, sectioning and splicing. A rail beyond those limits has to be sectioned or replaced.
Livery and markings
Refinishing to fleet colours plus lettering, unit numbering and regulatory markings is a real line item — and the difference between a repaired truck and one that matches the rest of the fleet.
Ranges
What it usually comes to
Ranges assume a mainstream vehicle in average condition. Premium vehicles, exotic finishes and heavily corroded substrates sit above them.

What the price includes
If a quote is materially cheaper than the range above, it is worth asking which of these it leaves out.
Insurance
Claim it or pay for it?
Commercial claims involve more parties than a passenger claim — the carrier, the insurer, sometimes a leasing company and sometimes a customer whose freight was on board. Thorough documentation is what keeps those claims moving.
We work equally well against an insurer's authorisation or a self-insured fleet's internal purchase order process. Tell us which applies when you book the unit in.
Keeping the cost down
- Get the assessment done immediately — parts lead time is the real clock
- Ask whether the hood can be repaired rather than replaced
- Consider scheduled programs so predictable body work is not always an emergency
- Have your colour standard and livery layout on file so it is not re-established each time
How fast can you give us a number?
In most cases a written quote within one business day of the unit arriving, with any long-lead parts flagged straight away because those are what drive the date.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a composite hood?
Repair, frequently and substantially — and it is usually much faster. Where the mounting structure is damaged, replacement is the correct answer and we will say so.
Do you work with self-insured fleets?
Yes. Insurer authorisation or your own purchase order process, either is fine, and we document to the same standard regardless.
