How Much Does Frame Repair Cost in Calgary?
Structural repair is priced by how far out of specification the vehicle is — which is why it cannot be quoted properly without measuring it.
Typical range
- Measuring and setup
- $300 – $800
- Minor pull, single point
- $800 – $2,000
- Moderate structural repair
- $2,500 – $6,000
- Severe, with sectioning
- $6,000 – $15,000+
Overview
If a collision reached structure, the repair has to be measured. Panels can be judged by eye; rails, pillars, rockers and floor pans cannot. That measurement is also what determines the price, which is why any figure quoted before the vehicle is on a measuring system is a guess.
The other thing measurement determines is whether the vehicle is worth repairing at all. Where the cost of returning the structure to specification approaches the vehicle's value, the insurer will declare a total loss — and that is usually the right answer.
Figures on this page are general Calgary-market ranges intended to give you a sense of scale. They are not a quotation and not our price list — every job is priced on the vehicle in front of us. Get a free written estimate for a real number.

What actually moves the number
How far out of specification
A single point a few millimetres out is a different job from a shell twisted across several control points. Only measurement tells you which you have.
Materials
Modern vehicles mix mild steel, high-strength steel, ultra-high-strength boron, aluminium and composites in one shell. Some components may be straightened; others must be replaced outright because heating destroys the properties they were engineered for.
Sectioning
Where a rail or pillar has to be cut and joined, manufacturers specify exactly where and how. Sectioning is skilled labour and adds significantly to both cost and time.
What the structure carries
Suspension mounting points, subframes and airbag sensor locations all have to end up where the manufacturer put them, which often means additional replacement parts.
Corrosion protection
Every cut, weld and drilled hole is a new place for corrosion to start. Cavity wax, seam sealer and inhibiting primer are part of the repair, not an upsell.
Ranges
What it usually comes to
Ranges assume a mainstream vehicle in average condition. Premium vehicles, exotic finishes and heavily corroded substrates sit above them.
| Job | Typical range | Typical time |
|---|---|---|
| Measurement and documentation only | $300 – $800 | Half a day |
| Minor pull, single control point | $800 – $2,000 | 2 – 4 days |
| Moderate structural correction | $2,500 – $6,000 | 1 – 2 weeks |
| Structural repair with panel sectioning | $6,000 – $15,000 | 2 – 4 weeks |
| Severe damage with suspension and subframe work | $10,000 – $25,000+ | 3 – 6 weeks |
| Cost approaches vehicle value | Total loss | Settlement, not repair |

What the price includes
If a quote is materially cheaper than the range above, it is worth asking which of these it leaves out.
Insurance
Claim it or pay for it?
Structural repair is almost always part of a collision claim rather than private work. The estimate goes to your insurer with the measurement data supporting it, and supplements follow if the teardown exposes more than the first assessment could see.
If the insurer declares a total loss you are entitled to see how the vehicle's value was reached, and comparable local listings are a legitimate basis for discussing a figure that looks low.
Keeping the cost down
- Get it measured rather than guessed — an unmeasured repair costs more later
- Ask for the before-and-after measurement report; it protects your resale position
- Do not skip corrosion protection to trim the estimate on an Alberta vehicle
- If it is a total loss, focus your energy on the valuation rather than the repair
Can a vehicle with frame damage be safe again?
Yes, provided the repair follows the manufacturer's procedure, the structure is measured back within published tolerance and the correct materials and joining methods are used. The measurement report is the evidence, not the assurance.
Will it show on a vehicle history report?
A reported insurance claim may appear on services such as CARFAX. A repair completed and documented to specification is a far stronger position at resale than an undocumented one — keep the paperwork.
Why can you not quote this over the phone?
Because the price is a function of how far out of specification the shell is, and there is no way to know that without putting it on a measuring system.
